WHY IS IT SPECIAL?

Fleur du Cap is special because of its “Unfiltered” Philosophy. By minimizing intervention in the cellar, they allow the raw power of the Pinotage grape to shine through. This wine is for the purist—the person who wants to taste the vineyard without the “polishing” of heavy industrial filtration. It is a wine of texture, grit, and immense character.

TASTING NOTES:

Nose: An intense and concentrated aroma of blackcurrants and ripe cherries, underscored by sophisticated layers of sweet spicy oak, vanilla, and a hint of clove.

Palate: A massive, full-bodied explosion of fruit. Expect juicy plums and dark berries wrapped in a velvety texture. Because it is unfiltered, the mouthfeel is notably rich and viscous, with tannins that feel “weighty” but smooth.

Finish: A long, powerful finish characterised by savoury spice, toasted oak, and a lingering sweetness of dark fruit.

Product details

The Fleur du Cap Series Privée Pinotage is a sophisticated, “boutique-style” red that honors the biodiversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom. Known for its unfiltered approach, this wine retains an incredible depth of color and a complex mouthfeel that filtered wines often lose. Sourced primarily from Stellenbosch bush vines, the grapes are hand-picked and handled with extreme care to preserve the delicate fruit esters. The result is a Pinotage that feels artisanal—rich, textured, and deeply reflective of the sun and soil.

Food Pairing

Because of its unfiltered nature and robust structure, Fleur du Cap Pinotage is the ultimate "Meat Wine." It pairs transcendently with Slow-Roasted Beef Brisket or Grilled Game Fillet served with a savoury mushroom sauce. Its earthy undertones make it a natural match for Traditional Lamb Tomato Bredie (stew) or a platter of Aged Cheddar and Smoked Gouda. If you are looking for a fusion pairing, try it with Crispy Aromatic Duck—the wine’s dark fruit notes provide a beautiful counterpoint to the hoisin and spice.
