COMPASS BOX PEAT MONSTER

R969,00
Launched in 2013, this limited release commemorates the 10th anniversary of Compass Box's creation of "Monster". Originally produced for the Park Avenue Liquor Shop in New York, such was its popularity that Peat Monster was rolled out as a permanent bottling in 2003. The blend comprises Islay malts, both from the south of the island and from the village of Port Askaig, combined with Clynelish from the Highlands. Matured in a combination of American Oak and 2% new French oak for finishing purposes. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at 48.9%. (Bottle size 750ml) TASTING NOTES: Nose: Intense aromas of peet-reek, smoke, seaside character and burnt ropes, with a subtle apple-fruitiness in the background. Palate: The palate is full, round and tremendously complex. Water brings out a spice- laden, sweet vanilla character, as well. Finish: Long, balanced and peaty.

COMPASSBOX SPICE TREE

R1029,00
The inaugural release of The Spice Tree used French oak staves placed inside the casks, which was deemed too radical a departure from tradition by the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA), forcing Compass Box to cease production. Relaunched in 2009, Compass Box now uses French oak barrel heads to create this second generation of The Spice Tree. Generally including single malts from Teaninich, Dailuaine and Clynelish, which are vatted together, re-casked and further matured. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at 46%. TASTING: Nose: Big, sweet aromas of clove, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Palate: Full, round and sweet, with the spice and vanilla complementing the core distillery characters. Finish: Long finish.
