This wine is “Special” because it captures the “Crunchy” fruit side of Pinotage—avoiding the heavy, “jammy” style in favor of a bright, linear structure that makes it one of the most food-friendly reds in the Cape.

The Kleine Zalze Cellar Selection Pinotage is a masterclass in fruit-focused winemaking. Sourced from a combination of old bush vines and trellised vineyards in the premier Stellenbosch region, this wine is designed to emphasize the “Pinot” heritage of the grape. It undergoes a cold soak before fermentation to extract deep color and vibrant aromas without harsh tannins, followed by 12 months of maturation in seasoned French oak. It is a medium-to-full-bodied red that balances the grape’s natural power with a refreshing, contemporary elegance.
