DIEMERSFONTEIN CARPE DIEM RANGE MALBEC

6 in stock

R290,00

WHY IS IT SPECIAL?
  • The Carpe Diem range reflects the founders’ bold spirit — “seizing the day” — and this Malbec Reserve is a prime example of that ambition.
  • Wellington’s terroir (cooler mountain-influenced climate and well-drained soils) helps preserve Malbec’s fresh fruit character while enabling good phenolic maturity.
  • With 14 months of oak, the wine achieves a fine balance of fruit richness and structural elegance, making it a compelling option for both early drinking and moderate cellar ageing.

REVIEWS/AWARDS

  • Michelangelo International Wine & Spirit Awards: Gold (2019)
  • Old Mutual Trophy Show: Silver

TASTING NOTES:

Palate: Rich and full-flavoured, with a core of dark fruit (berries, plum) and a vibrant structure. The tannins are finely structured and lively, delivering a polished and balanced mouthfeel.

Finish: The finish is persistent and elegant, with lingering dark fruit, a hint of spice, and a refined oak-backed backbone.

Product details

This is part of Diemersfontein’s Carpe Diem flagship range, produced on the Wellington estate. The Malbec Reserve is made from 100% Malbec, harvested early in the morning, fermented carefully for optimal colour extraction, then aged for 14 months in French oak barrels.

Cellaring Potential: This Malbec Reserve can be cellared for up to 10 years (as per the estate) — over time, it will gain complexity and tertiary notes such as leather, dark berries and tobacco.

Food Pairing

Pairs beautifully with lean cuts of steak like flank, skirt or sirloin. For a richer pairing, try grilled lamb or barbecue ribs. The softer tannins also make it a surprisingly good match for dark chocolate — ideal for a fireside treat.
