TASTING NOTES:

Nose: A sophisticated and intense bouquet. Immediate notes of roasted espresso and bitter dark chocolate are layered with concentrated black cherries, mulberries, and a hint of savoury cedarwood.

Palate: Massive and richly textured. The palate is packed with ripe plum and blackberry jam, supported by dense, velvety tannins. The oak integration is seamless, providing a creamy backdrop of vanilla and sweet spice that balances the dark, brooding fruit.

Finish: Exceptionally long and powerful. It leaves a lingering impression of toasted cocoa, black pepper, and a final, elegant wisp of smoky oak.

The Diemersfontein Carpe Diem Pinotage is the estate’s super-premium “Reserve” expression, crafted from low-yielding, meticulously selected vineyard blocks in Wellington. While it retains the signature mocha-chocolate allure of its famous sibling, the Carpe Diem is a far more serious, complex, and structured beast. Matured for 15 to 18 months in 100% new French oak, this wine is a bold, full-bodied statement. It trades some of the playful sweetness of the entry-level range for dense dark fruit, firm tannins, and a savory depth that allows it to evolve beautifully in the cellar for a decade or more.
