What sets the Diemersdal Reserve apart is its “Cool-Climate Power.” Most high-intensity Pinotages come from the heat of the interior, but this wine achieves its concentration through Old Bush Vines and the cooling influence of the Atlantic Ocean. It is “Special” because it offers a “Savoury Precision”—it has the weight of a traditional Pinotage but the aromatic complexity and “crunchy” fruit profile of a cool-climate red. It is widely considered one of the most refined and age-worthy Pinotages in South Africa.

TASTING NOTES:

Nose: An intense and brooding bouquet. Immediate notes of black cherries, ripe plums, and wild mulberries are layered with sophisticated hints of oriental spice, vanilla, and a faint whisper of sweet tobacco.

Palate: Full-bodied and immensely concentrated. The palate is a tapestry of dark chocolate, bramble fruit, and savoury spice. The tannins are silky and well-integrated, providing a firm structure that suggests excellent ageing potential.

Finish: Exceptionally long and persistent. It leaves a lingering impression of toasty oak, roasted nuts, and a refreshing, clean mineral lift.
