WHY IS IT SPECIAL?

Allesverloren’s Fine Old Vintage is a pillar of South African fortification — blending old-world Portuguese varieties with Swartland terroir and the Malan family’s decades of port‑style winemaking. The long maturation in oak not only builds structure and complexity but also softens its sweetness into a refined, velvety texture. This wine is highly collectible because it balances richness and elegance in a way that rewards thoughtful cellaring or slow, contemplative sipping.

Product details

Allesverloren’s “Fine Old Vintage” (recently rebranded as Cape Vintage) is a Cape‑style fortified wine from the historic Allesverloren Wine Estate in the Swartland, one of South Africa’s oldest wineries. It’s crafted from a classic blend of Portuguese grape varieties — including Tinta Barocca, Touriga Nacional, Souzão, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Francisca and more  — picked late for richness, then fortified and aged in old oak barrels for around 20 months.  Its alcohol sits around 20% ABV, giving it power but also elegance.

Food Pairing

This port is a perfect companion for mature blue cheeses or bold-aged cheddars, where its sweetness and depth contrast beautifully with savoury, salty cheeses. It also pairs wonderfully with dark chocolate desserts, dried fruit tarts, or nutty pastry — think almond biscotti, pralines or pecan pie.
