Beyerskloof Lagare is a fortified “Cape Vintage” wine made by Beyerskloof, a winery renowned for its Pinotage specialisation in Stellenbosch. It’s crafted primarily from Pinotage, with a portion of Touriga Nacional and Tinta Barocca in the blend. The grapes are foot‑tread (“lagare” is Portuguese for the open granite fermenters), which gives robust colour extraction, and the wine is fortified with pot‑distilled Pinotage spirit. The result is an intense and structured port-style wine with about 18% ABV.
