TASTING NOTES:

Nose: Deep ruby in colour, the Fat Bastard Merlot opens with aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, and dark berries, followed by subtle spice notes of black pepper and caraway.

Palate: The palate is fresh, full, and juicy, offering bold summer fruit flavours — think blackberry, plum, and cherry — balanced with soft, rounded tannins and a smooth, expansive mid-palate.

Finish: A long, plush finish lingers with the memory of dark fruit and a gentle hint of oak spice, leaving a smooth, satisfying impression.

Product details

Fat Bastard Merlot is produced by the Fat Bastard Wines brand, originally founded in France’s Languedoc‑Roussillon region. It is made from 100% Merlot grapes grown in stony soils around Pézenas, with fermentation in stainless steel and a portion aged in oak.

Cellaring Potential: Not primarily made for long-term ageing, this Merlot is best enjoyed within 3–5 years of vintage. Its fruit-forward character and moderate structure make it an excellent option for now, but it can develop slight oak and spice notes if cellared briefly.
