Tasting Notes

Nose: A profound and complex bouquet. Expect an immediate, heady aroma of ripe mulberries and blueberries, followed by sophisticated layers of cracked black pepper, dried fynbos, and a hint of exotic cloves.

Palate: Full-bodied, concentrated, and impeccably structured. The palate is a dense tapestry of bramble fruit and dark cherries, supported by firm, fine-grained tannins. There is a beautiful core of savoury spice and toasty oak.

Finish: An exceptionally long and commanding finish. It leaves a lingering trail of dark chocolate, sweet tobacco, and a final, aristocratic whisper of stony minerality.

The Cederberg Shiraz is a powerhouse red that defines “high-altitude elegance.” Crafted by David Nieuwoudt, this wine is a masterclass in balance and intensity. Because of the cool mountain nights, the grapes undergo a long, slow ripening process that preserves an incredible natural acidity and a “blue-fruited” profile. Matured for 15 months in a combination of new and second-fill French oak, it is a full-bodied red with immense ageing potential. It is celebrated for its explosive aromatics and a tannin structure that is as firm and enduring as the Cederberg rock formations themselves.

Cederberg Shiraz is a "prestige" wine that calls for bold, rustic, yet refined flavours. It is the ultimate companion for Char-Grilled Karoo Lamb or a Venison Loin with a Dark Berry Jus.
