TASTING NOTES:

Nose: The bouquet opens with aromas of cassis and cloves, followed by subtle touches of dried herb and vanilla. With time in the glass, expect deeper dark‑berry and cherry tones, along with tobacco or cedar notes.

Palate: On the palate, elegant fruit of dark red and black berries, blueberries and cherries in some vintages, complemented by firm, well‑integrated tannins. The oak and fruit are balanced, making for a smooth but structured experience.

Finish:  The finish is lingering, with dark fruit, spice and a clean mineral undertone that keeps the wine lively and rewarding. The tannins stay present but not overbearing, offering a pleasant grip.

Produced by the Diemersfontein Wine & Country Estate in the Wellington region of the Western Cape, this wine is crafted from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2022 vintage, for example, was matured for 12 months in 3rd‑ and 4th‑fill 225 L French oak barrels.

For Collectors: While this wine may not be in the ultra‑premium investment tier, it offers solid value and cellaring potential. According to the producer, the 2022 vintage is suitable to be matured for up to ~10 years. With good storage conditions, it can develop secondary complexity over the next 5‑8 years, making it a worthy component of a diversified cellar focusing on South African Cabernet Sauvignon.
