TASTING NOTES:

Nose: A generous aromatic profile: rich dark fruits such as cassis and ripe plum, layered with blackcurrant and blueberry. Complemented by cedar, graphite, pencil shavings, tobacco and warm oak spice from French barrels.

Palate:  Full-bodied and structured, with firm, fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity. Flavours of black cherry, blackcurrant, dark chocolate and mocha intertwine with cedar, liquorice and mineral undertones. Brooding but polished, with excellent depth.

Finish:  The finish is long, persistent and satisfying: dark fruit, cocoa, graphite and tobacco linger, anchored by the firm backbone of tannin and minerality. A wine built for the long haul.

Vergelegen Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Hailing from the historic Vergelegen Estate in Stellenbosch, founded in 1700 and now firmly part of South Africa’s premium wine terroir. The Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is drawn from select north to north-west facing vineyard blocks (Rooiland & Stonepine) planted on granite, Hutton and Clovelly soils.

For Collectors: A standout South African Cabernet that deserves a place in serious collections. With careful cellaring, it will evolve beautifully over a decade or more. The stylistic DNA is unmistakably premium — look to a drink window extending to roughly 2030–2040+, depending on vintage and storage.
