Tasting Notes

Nose: An inviting and complex bouquet. Dominant aromas of ripe raspberries and black cherries are layered with sophisticated hints of mocha, roasted coffee beans, and a touch of sweet tobacco.

Palate: Medium-to-full-bodied and remarkably smooth. The palate is a lush tapestry of dark berries and plum, supported by silky, well-integrated tannins. There is a savoury undertone and a hint of baking spices that adds depth.

The Kanonkop Kadette Cape Blend is a masterfully crafted red, sourced from the same legendary Simonsberg-Stellenbosch vineyards that produce its more expensive siblings. This wine is a deliberate assembly of Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The Pinotage provides the vibrant, fruit-driven heart, while the Bordeaux varietals provide the structural backbone and elegance. Matured for 12 to 14 months in second- and third-fill French oak, it offers the complexity of a serious red with a “supple” mouthfeel that makes it incredibly approachable from a young age.
