Tasting Notes

Nose: An inviting and familiar bouquet. Expect a primary burst of ripe red berries and black cherries, underpinned by sophisticated layers of vanilla oak spice and a hint of dark chocolate.

Palate: Succulent, smooth, and incredibly balanced. The palate is a plush tapestry of blueberries and cassis, supported by velvety tannins and a refreshing, lively acidity. There is a distinct “dash of pepper” and cinnamon from the Shiraz.

Finish: A satisfying and lingering finish. It leaves a savoury trail of soft spice and a final, dry whisper of dark fruit jam.

The Nederburg Baronne is a quintessential Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend, traditionally softened and spiced with a generous dollop of Shiraz. Sourced from top-performing vineyards across the Western Cape, particularly in Paarl and Stellenbosch, it is designed with “suave and self-assured” drinkability in mind. Matured on a selection of oak for approximately six months, it balances the structure of the Cabernet with the fleshy, exotic notes of the Shiraz. It is a medium-bodied, velvety red that has remained remarkably consistent in style and quality for half a century.
