Product details

The now historic wine is single-handedly responsible for launching the Super Tuscan movement and remains one of the most sought-after wines in the world. After decades of experimentation, the first vintage was released in 1968. Marchese Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta continues the decades of tradition today at Tenuta San Guido, which is considered by many to be the birthplace of Tuscan Cabernet.

Sassicaia 1985 is a mature-vintage Supertuscan blend from `Tenuta San Guido in the Bolgheri region of Tuscany. Produced since the 1968 vintage, Tenuta San Guido`s Sassicaia is one of the world`s most iconic Cabernets, produced from organically farmed vineyards close to the Tuscan coast in Bolgheri. 1985 will go down as one of the greatest ever vintages in Tuscany, with next-to-ideal weather conditions throughout the year. This vintage was matured in 40% in Slavonian oak barrels and 60% French Tronçais barrels, with a small proportion of Allier. The percentage of new wood was 65%. The wine remained in barrels for 22 months.
