TASTING NOTES:

Nose: The bouquet opens with layers of blackberry and cassis, dovetailed with hints of tobacco leaf, cedar, graphite, pencil shavings, and South African fynbos.

Palate: Medium-to-full-bodied yet with fine balance. Flavours of ripe black fruit, cassis, dark cherry, supported by oak spice, roasted nuts and subtle savoury/herbal notes. The tannins are firm, well-knit and integrated.

Finish: The finish is long and sustained, with lingering impressions of dark fruit, graphite, tobacco and a mineral-tinged backbone. Elegant yet powerful — built for long-term development.

Kanonkop Cabernet Sauvignon. Produced by the historic Kanonkop Wine Estate in Stellenbosch’s Simonsberg foothills, this is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon (in recent vintages) sourced from vines planted on decomposed-granite, Hutton and Clovelly soils. The wine is richly textured, matured for 24 months in roughly 50% new French Nevers oak barrels.

For Collectors: A true investment-grade South African Cabernet. Depending on vintage and storage, it offers cellaring potential of 10-20 years or more, with some standout vintages (e.g., 2015) expected to evolve through 2035-2045+.  Ideal for placing in a fine-wine collection alongside other top-tier global Cabs.
